Trachycarpus Fortunei -aka Windmill Palm, this palm originates from the Himalayan mountains of China growing at altitudes of 8,000 feet. This palm is often snow covered and gets sub-zero temps in its native habitat. It has a matted trunk with brown fibres that look like burlap and help insulate this palm making it the hardiest trunking palm. Zone 7 palm but growing in zone 5b Montreal, Canada with protection.
