Originates in the Himalayan mountains growing at slightly higher elevations than the Trachycarpus Fortunei and therefore thought to be slightly more cold hardy. Looks quite like the Fortunei until 15 gal. size when the takil starts to get a larger leaf and surpasses the Fortunei in growth. The Takil has a hairy trunk just like the Fortunei.
